About Polchi

Polchi is an independent movie publication built for readers who want criticism that behaves like journalism—clear disclosures, readable structure, and opinions grounded in what is actually on screen.

Mission

We publish reviews, explainers, and curated guides across the theatrical and streaming landscape. While our coverage emphasizes the 2026 release calendar, we also revisit catalog titles when they inform the conversation—restorations, director cuts, and culturally resonant anniversaries.

Review philosophy

A Polchi review should answer four questions without burying the reader in jargon: What is the film trying to do? How does it go about it? Who is it for? What does it leave behind once the noise fades? We prefer precise description over hype syntax. When we praise or fault a film, we tie the verdict to craft choices—editing rhythm, sound perspective, performance calibration—not to franchise loyalty.

Independence & ethics

Polchi maintains a firewall between editorial coverage and advertising. Sponsored or affiliate placements, when used, are labeled according to our Editorial Policy. Staff and contributors disclose conflicts of interest—relationships with distributors, festival partnerships, or prior employment—when relevant to a piece.

Scoring

Our five-point rubric is a shorthand for readers scanning headlines. It is not a scientific measurement. Scores reflect a consensus among assigned editors after screening notes are filed. Films may be revisited if materially different cuts reach audiences.

Corrections

Factual errors—release dates, credits, terminology—are corrected in-body when possible, with an accompanying note at the bottom of the article indicating what changed and when.
